The “big wall” was initially built to cordon off the building sites and will remain for some years. Slowly it will become an urban residential and communication complex changing the “precarious nature” of the building sites into a “city event”, marked by an attractive pub sign.
The colour of the wall changes with the seasons and the weather reflects the building phase: with the green wall things can be done or not, for example here the department store on Taliastrasse will be demolished whereas there the green cover will constantly be in keeping with the wall.
The ups and downs of the road running alongside the wall permit access to different heights and provide various views and passage ways to the groups of buildings behind it.
The urban wall is a sign of the desire to mark an event, but it is also a useful “means” for making the building program feasible.
